Do you remember going to summer camp as a kid? What it was like to meet new friends, and have exciting adventures? The Boys and Girls Clubs of Muncie will be making those same kinds of lasting memories for the youth of our community this summer.
Every summer the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie host a summer camp where kids from Muncie & Delaware County come to continue learning, have field trips, and meet new friends. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie summer camp is 7 weeks in June and July.
Kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie summer camp engage in Summer Brain Gain which is a summer learning loss prevention program aiming to prevent kids from falling behind in two key areas: math and literacy. The kids engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, and group work with the goal of continued learning.
With summer’s warm weather and extended daylight, it is the best time for carefree and playful outdoor adventures. At summer camp the kids have daily time to play group games in the gym, free time to engage in physical activities of their choosing, and time to play outside with their friends and enjoy the warm weather.
While the kids are in our summer program, they are provided with breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day. Keeping our kids fed with nutritious meals and snacks and providing them with ample opportunities for play and exploration is key to ensuring their physical and social-emotional well-being.
On top of daily educational and physical activities, each week the kids go on two field trips. Every week the kids go to Tuhey Pool where they have time to swim and play with their friends, and if needed there is an opportunity for the kids to learn how to swim safely. Each week the kids go on an educational field trip where hands on experience enables them to learn and grow. Some of the field trips include the Ball State Planetarium, Children’s Museum, and The Ft. Wayne Zoo.
