Boys & Girls Club of Muncie celebrates National Boys & Girls Clubs Week. “Open the Door. Take the Tour” Highlights how Boys & Girls Clubs Impact Communities

MUNCIE, IN, March 14, 2017 – During the week of March 27 – 31, the Boys & Girls Club of Muncie is inviting the Muncie community to join them for National Boys & Girls Club Week. This special celebration offers the general public the opportunity to experience the life changing programs the Boys & Girls Club offers to children and teens in Muncie.

A part of National Boys & Girls Club week, Muncie Boys & Girls Club will join more than 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs across America and on U.S. military installations as they host a weeklong celebration featuring the many ways Muncie Boys & Girls Club opens the door to great futures through outcome driven programs that focus on encouraging youth to make healthy choices, build strong character and succeed academically.

“Day in and day out, our Boys & Girls Club staff and mentors deliver quality experiences that make a difference in a youth’s life beyond their time at the Club. Research shows that kids who have an optimal experience at our Clubs are also more likely to have positive self-esteem, volunteer, and be engaged in school,” said Jodi Martin, Interim Executive Director. “National Boys & Girls Club Week is a special time when we welcome the community to witness the amazing impact Clubs have on the lives of kids and teens.”

Along with Boys & Girls Club tours, supporters can visit Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s new and improved online tour, by visiting bgca.org/bgcweek. Viewers will be able to experience a virtual Boys & Girls Club and discover how Clubs help young people reach their full potential.

This year, more than 600 clubs showed their Club spirit by competing in the Blue Doors Across the Nation: Blue Door Decorating Contest, presented by Lowes. Each Club submitted their creative display in hopes to receive the grand prize of a Lowe’s renovation grant valued at $20,000. Supporters can visit BGCA.org/BGCWeek to vote for your favorite blue door from Monday, March 13 until Thursday, March 30 at 12 p.m. PST.
