What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is a United States federal community service program created in 1993 under President Bill Clinton. It was established with a goal of “helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.” Similar to the Peace Corps, members serve a network of nonprofit organizations and public agencies to fulfill assignments in the fields of education, public safety, health care, and environmental protection. Since the program became operational in 1994, almost 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.2 billion hours in the name of community service.
As an AmeriCorps volunteer, you will commit to the following:
- Either 300, 675, or 900 hours of service
- Consistent and steady work week

Academic Success Coordinator
- Plan and supervise daily rotations and activities for BGC Scholars
- Maintain and organize member folders and information
- Administer pre- and post-tests and maintain homework logs
- Engage external partners to create opportunities for learning, creativity, & project development
- Assist with Power Hour, Tutoring, transitions and Discovery Hour
- Plan, prepare, and assess programs to brief Program Director
- Supervise transportation as needed
- Collect “great” stories and help administer recognition programs
- Engage volunteers to participate and assist with daily activities
- Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Maintain clean and organized program and storage areas
- Maintain tools, resources and equipment for program area
- Supervise assigned area at all times including volunteers and members
- Report all unsafe activities, discipline issues and code of conduct violations immediately
- Perform all other duties as assigned in support of programs and overall mission
- Hours offered Monday – Friday
Indiana Kids Coordinator (Filled)

- Assist in planning and implementation of programs
- Read, understand and run BGCA’s Triple Play program
- Supervise gym and all recreational activities
- Engage external partners to create opportunities for learning, creativity, & project development
- Assist with Power Hour, Tutoring, transitions and Discovery Hour
- Plan, prepare, and assess programs to brief Program Director
- Supervise transportation as needed
- Collect “great” stories and help administer recognition programs
- Engage volunteers to participate and assist with daily activities
- Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Maintain clean and organized program and storage areas
- Maintain tools, resources and equipment for program area
