PARENTS & KIDS: Plan to spend your day with the Boys & Girls Club as we honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to “Pave the Way for New Beginnings.”
All Kids/Youth (Grades K-12) should arrive at the Unity Center (Next Door to the Boys & Girls Club) for the breakfast program to start at 9:00 AM. Kids/Youth will then be picked up at the Boys & Girls Club at 1:00 PM. Details are below.

All events are free and open to the public.
MLK Community Breakfast
- 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
- A. Pittenger Student Center, Cardinal Hall – Ball State University
MLK Community Unity March (Immediately after breakfast)
- 11:00 a.m. from Multicultural Center – 325 N. McKinley Avenue
- March north on McKinley Avenue to the Shafer Tower and return south on McKinley Avenue to the Student Center. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 10:45 a.m.
MLK Children and Youth Celebration Breakfast (K – 12th grade)
- 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Breakfast at Unity Center, 1600 S. Madison Street
Children Empowerment Session (K – 6th grade)
- 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Children’s March from Unity Center to Boys & Girls Club
- 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Activities and lunch at Boys & Girls Club, 1710 S Madison St
Children in kindergarten through 6th grade and teenagers in 7th grade through 12th grade are invited to attend the breakfast at the Unity Center. Teenagers will depart the Unity Center at 10:30 a.m. via a MITS bus and will transported to Ball State University from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the Unity March and Youth Empowerment Session at lunch.
Community Job Fair and Adult Empowerment Workshops
- 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- A. Pittenger Student Center, Alumni Lounge and Rooms 301 and 303 – Ball State University
Food Giveaway
- 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Unity Center, 1600 S. Madison Street
Youth Empowerment Session (7th – 12th Grade Students)
- 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. (After the Unity March)
- A. Pittenger Student Center, Ballroom – Ball State University
Free Lunch Provided for Youth and Children
MLK Community Celebration Worship Service
- 6:00 p.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church,1100 N Macedonia Ave
