March 13, 2020

As mentioned yesterday (March 12), we want to remain open to our families who need us most. We will do so as long as we can remain open safely for our Staff, and volunteers, and our families who are unable to keep their children home safely. Pursuant to CDC suggestions, our offerings for the next two weeks (March 16th – March 27th) will, as of this moment, be from 7:30 – 5:15, and limited to 50 elementary school-aged members (at our Madison Street Clubhouse), and limited to 15 middle school-aged members (at our Roy C. Buley Clubhouse). Preregistration will be required.

Pending the potential closure of Muncie Community Schools and to comply with social distancing expectations, BGCM would like you to consider the following:

  1. If you can keep your child at home, please do so.
  2. If you or any member of your household is ill, has a cough or fever, or shortness of breath, please keep your child at home.
  3. Continue to cover your cough, wash your hands often and sanitize areas where people gather.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie will be here for those who need us most in the following ways:

  1. Elementary Students will be cared for at the Madison Street Unit (pending a well check), from 7:30am – 5:15pm M-F. We are limited to 50 students, with priority being given to families whose parents work in the medical field, fire department, police department or EMS.
  2. Middle School Students will be cared for at the Buley Center Unit (pending a well check) from 7:30am – 5:15pm M-F. We are limited to 15 students at this location with priority being given to families whose parents work in the medical field, fire department, police department or EMS.

We are closely following this situation, and are in contact with other child-serving, and health care agencies to minimize the transmission of this virus. Thank you for working with us to keep all of our staff, volunteers, and members safe.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at 765-282-4461, or via email at JNewman@BGCMuncie.Org.

Sincerely,

Jason Newman
